Who is this for?

Customers on HostBible cPanel hosting who need to roll back files, databases, email accounts, or their full account using JetBackup 5.

Important: Backups are included with specific HostBible tiers only. If your plan doesn’t include backups, you can add JetBackup as a paid add‑on. If you don’t see the JetBackup 5 icon in cPanel, check your plan in your Client Area or contact HostBible Support to enable the add‑on.

Quick steps (at a glance)

  1. Log in to cPanel and open JetBackup 5 (usually found in the Files section).

  2. Go to Restore & Download and choose what you want to restore (e.g., Full Account, Home Directory Files, Databases, Email Accounts, Cron Jobs, DNS Zones, SSL Certificates, FTP Accounts). JetBackup Documentation

  3. Pick a backup point/date.

  4. (Optional) Click Change Files Selection when restoring Home Directory to pick specific files/folders (only available on incremental backups). JetBackup Documentation

  5. Click Restore, review any Restore Options (e.g., Merge live account data with backup data) and accept Restore Conditions if prompted, then confirm to queue the job. JetBackup Documentation

  6. Track progress in Queue until the status shows Completed. JetBackup Documentation

Detailed guide

1) Open JetBackup 5 in cPanel

  • Sign in to your cPanel.

  • In Files, click JetBackup 5. If you don’t see it, your plan may not include backups reach out to HostBible to add JetBackup.

2) Choose what you want to restore

Click Restore & Download. You’ll see tabs for individual “backup items” you can restore or download:

  • Full Account

  • Home Directory Files

  • Databases and Database Users

  • Email Accounts

  • FTP Accounts

  • Cron Jobs

  • DNS Zones

  • SSL Certificates

Notes:
Full Account restore includes only the items your host has permitted for your user.
• If you pick Databases without also choosing the related Database Users, only the database(s) will be restored—add the DB user(s) if you need user access restored too. JetBackup Documentation

3) Select a backup point

Each tab lists available restore points by date/time. Click the one you want.

4) (Optional) Select specific files/folders

If you’re restoring Home Directory Files, you can click Change Files Selection to browse and tick only the files/folders you need—but only when the backup type is Incremental (archived/compressed home directory backups don’t support per‑file selection). JetBackup Documentation

5) Choose Restore (or Download)

  • Restore adds the job to the queue and rolls the selected items back on the server.

  • Download creates an archive you can save locally (useful if you want a copy before restoring, or to compare files). JetBackup Documentation

6) Review options and confirm

When restoring from the user panel, you may see:

  • Restore Options → Merge live account data with backup data: merges backup data with what’s currently in your account. Live data takes precedence over restore data.

  • Restore Conditions: provider‑set terms you must accept to proceed.

Confirm to queue the restore. JetBackup Documentation

7) Track progress

Open Queue inside JetBackup to monitor the job status. It will move from Processing to Completed when finished. For downloads, the archive appears under Downloads after it’s ready. JetBackup Documentation

Tips & good practices

  • Not sure? Download first. If you want a safety copy, use Download instead of Restore, then extract and inspect locally. JetBackup Documentation

  • Per‑file restores require incremental backups. If you don’t see Change Files Selection, the available backup may be archived/compressed; consider a Download or restore a broader scope. JetBackup Documentation

  • Can’t find backups? Your plan may not include JetBackup backups, or backups may not have run yet. Check your HostBible plan or contact Support to add the JetBackup backup add‑on.

  • Database credentials after restore: If you restored the DB but not the Database Users, app logins may fail, restore the DB user(s) too. JetBackup Documentation

FAQ

Do restores overwrite everything?
Restores from the user panel typically merge with live data; current (“live”) data has priority if there’s a conflict. If you need a different behavior, contact HostBible Support for guidance. JetBackup Documentation

What if my restore doesn’t appear to do anything?
Open Queue in JetBackup to check status, logs, and results. Completed downloads will appear under Downloads. JetBackup Documentation

Need help?

If you’re unsure which restore point to choose, don’t see JetBackup 5 in cPanel, or your plan doesn’t include backups yet, message HostBible Support from your Client Area. We can confirm if backups are included with your tier or help you add the JetBackup backup add‑on.
